ARMONK, N.Y. Tutor Time, an Armonk day care center, is assisting Two Men and a Truck, a Westchester moving company in its Movers for Moms collection drive program to provide Mothers Days gifts for women living in the YWCA of White Plains.
Charlene Greene, director of Tutor Time, said employees of Two Men and a Truck will stop by Tutor Time for a kickoff event. Then, Tutor Time students will drop off gifts that are collected in boxes, which Two Men and a Truck will pick up. Its a pretty cool thing, Greene said. Were partnering with them to help people less fortunate than us.
Danielle Cylich, director of development at the YWCA of White Plains, said, Its a wonderful program. Women come to us in the residence at a challenging point in their life and theyre not starting out with much. The small amenities make them feel more at home. Theyve partnered with us for a few years and its always been well received.
Yara Almodovar, administrative director at Two Men and a Truck, said the company will collect 100,000 items from local schools and other organizations it will donate to the YWCA and other homeless shelters across 14 states. We collect comfort items like slippers, clothing, pillows and body lotion, she said.
The kids at Tutor Time enjoy the program, its director said. They help load the gifts into the trucks, so they have a good time supporting a good cause, Greene said.
