ARMONK, N.Y. Now set to close Feb. 14, the A&P on Main Street in Armonk is literally running out of food to sell.
Many shelves in the store are empty and discounts of up to 80 percent are being advertised on store front posts and signs held up on Main Street and Maple Avenue.
The remaining shoppers said they are enjoying the discounts but aren't happy about the store closing.
"It stinks," said Edith Verrilli, an Armonk resident who's been shopping at the A&P for 34 years.
She enjoyed shopping at A&P because "it's convenient, the prices are good, the employees are pleasant and all my friends shop here," she said.
She blames the town, which refused A&P's expansion plan before CVS signed a lease on the property, for the closing. "We have a good supervisor now, but in the past they've been non-entities," she said.
