Armonk residents know the A&P plans to close and have another reminder with a sign draped across the top of the store and on Sunday a man carrying another sign on Main Street.
The signs heralded closeout sale prices of 30 percent off all items.
No closing date has been announced.
An official at A&P headquarters said the store may close sometime in March but wouldn't give a date. An employee outside the store Sunday said it may close as early as Feb. 1.
The store closing to make room for a CVS has been a hot-button issue in the hamlet. There will be no supermarket downtown until a new supermarket opens in the planned Armonk Square development, but that project is on hold because of a petition against the development.
A CVS store is scheduled to open at the A&P site sometime in the fall.
