December was not only the warmest ever in the area, it also would rank among the Top 10 warmest Novembers.
But the flip of the calendar to January has brought with it a dramatic change in the weather pattern.
The coldest air of the season will result in plummeting temperatures.
The frigid conditions are expected to continue through Wednesday morning, according to Accuweather.com.
There could be snow showers and flurries at times, but overall, mostly sunny skies are expected.
The high temperature Monday will only reach between 28 and 30 degrees with an overnight low of between 10 and 12 degrees.
Tuesday's high will be between 26 and 28 degrees, with the overnight low once again close to single digits.
It will warm up a bit Wednesday with a high temperature near 40 expected.
