North Castle Public Library Welcomes New Director

ARMONK, N.Y. -- The Library Board of Trustees named Scott Jarzombek as the new director of the North Castle Public Library in an announcement on Monday.

Most recently, Jarzombek was the assistant director of the Danbury Public Library and before that director of the Pawling Free Library. Previously, he was head of Youth Services in the Poughkeepsie Public Library District where he was a member of both the Administrative Council and the Safety and Security Committee.

Earlier in his career, he served as branch librarian in the Albany Public Library where he consulted in the design and master plan for an award-winning branch renovation.

"Scott is a passionate advocate for libraries and the role they play in our communities and has a deep understanding of the role of technology in libraries," Sean Ryan, president of the North Castle Library Board  said in the announcement. "We are looking forward to working with him on our long-term strategies for the library."

Jarzombek was the recipient of the 2009 Pied Piper Award from the New York Library Association (NYLA) Youth Services Section and has been recognized by the Association for Library Service to Children for designing and implementing a "great technology program for children."

His article "Youth in Libraries: Policies and Procedures in Action" was published in 2012 in the Journal of the Library Leadership and Management.

He received his master's degree in library science from the State University of New York at Albany and earned a bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in history and secondary education from the University of Hartford. He is also a graduate of the NYLA Leadership and Management Academy. 

Jarzombek lives in Fishkill with his wife and two young sons.
