OSSINING, N.Y. -- Betty Lupetin isn't letting her upcoming 90th birthday keep her from doing her job.
Lupetin, a lifelong Ossining resident who turns 90 on Sunday, works at CareMount Medical in Ossining, maintaining medical records, clerical duties and filing. She is known for her work ethic and commitment to doing her job, learning to use a computer to keep up with new filing methods.
"You don't look a day over 55," president and CEO Scott Hayworth told her at a Friday afternoon birthday party.
Before working for CareMount, Lupetin worked at General Motors in Tarrytown for 38 years, managing the switchboard, working in the mailroom and later working in payroll and accounting. After briefly retiring, she decided to go back to work in a medical office where she was a patient.
"I went to my doctor and he said 'would you like a job'," Lupetin said.
Lupetin, who commutes to work via a taxi, said she enjoys showing up to work and seeing her patients and co-workers.
"Staying home is boring," Lupetin said. "I intend to work here as long as I am able and as long as CareMount will keep me."
Dr. Charles Abate, who worked with Lupetin before they both moved to CareMount said Lupetin is a joy to have in the office.
"She gives us confidence and inspires us," Abate said.
Lupetin has two children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with a fourth one on the way. Her family threw a surprise birthday last week and said she'll celebrating her birthday and Easter with a lunch at her nieces.
The Ossining High School graduate's first job was at Woolworth.
