Sarah Ilany, who was diagnosed with diabetes at 11, openly discusses the issues of the illness via her Blood Sugar Cookies account on Instagram, theexaminernews.com reported.

Type-1 diabetes is not caused by diet and has no cure, according to the American Diabetes Association.

Only about 5 percent of all diabetics have Type-1 diabetes, which is considered an autoimmune disease.

Ilany recently was part of a team that raised $6,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund walk, theexaminernews.com reported.
