LARCHMONT, N.Y. – Yorktown native and new Larchmont restaurant owner Nick Di Bona proved his kitchen skills to Food Network viewers as the champion chef on "Chopped" and winner of $10,000, in an episode that aired Tuesday night.
The mystery boxes in Di Bona’s winning episode, titled “Brunch Boxes,” featured brunch items that four competing chefs must use to create three plates for a panel of judges to determine the winner.
According to an episode recap on BadMoonOwl.com, the competition went as follows:
The ingredients were quail eggs, kale, champagne and caviar. Di Bona prepared a warm kale salad with champagne poached quail eggs.
The ingredients were emu egg, pancake mix, Bloody Mary mix and lobster. Di Bona’s dish consisted of pancake battered lobster with lobster sauce.
Ingredients were Araucana eggs, waffles, maple syrup and Canadian bacon. Di Bona prepared a maple gelato and waffle crumble with Canadian bacon sabayon.
The episode aired at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. The Food Network is expected to show reruns of the episode. It is also expected to be available on its website.
