WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sangria may look easy -- a little wine, a little fruit, a filled-to-the-rim pitcher, but in reality, it's all about balance.

Come summer, it's also all about what's refreshing, without too much sweetness. We've rounded up some of the best sangrias in the county; feel free to add your own on our Facebook page or in our comments.

  • Aesop's Fable Restaurant, Chappaqua: Kale, green apple, basil, mint, cucumber, raw honey, Chardonnay, Triple Sec, Elderflower liquor and citrus infused vodka go into the green sangria at this health-focused, farm-to-table eatery.
  • Alvin & Friends, New Rochelle: Red -- with a splash of mango juice -- is on the sangria menu at Alvin's as is a white option. Both offer a cool, colorful taste of the tropics. And yes, that is amaretto and schnapps you taste; not a typical sangria ingredient but Alvin's likes to spice it up.
  • bartaco, Port Chester: Don't expect the traditional sangria here. Instead, you'll find a Sangria Pera which incorporates late summer flavors like pear and St. Elder with Casa Julia white wine and cava.
  • Blue Moon Mexican Café, Bronxville: Imbibe in homemade red and white sangria amidst a fiesta-like ambiance. Best time to come? Sangria Sundays where diners can enjoy sangria pitchers for $14.95 from noon to 4 p.m.
  • Bridge View Tavern, Sleepy Hollow: A lot of love goes into the red sangria served by the glass only. It's is an old-family recipe filled with juicy bits of pears, apples, and oranges. Come soon: For summer, you'll also find a seasonal white guava.
  • Cafe of Love, Mount Kisco: Ready for a fruity fiesta? The red sangria option includes wine-soaked oranges, apples and plums along with Rioja wine, apple liqueur, raspberry liqueur, apricot brandy and cranberry and pomegranate juices while the white features a light peachy tang thanks to the Verdejo wine, peach liqueur, Cointreau, apricot brandy, orange juice, sliced lemons, limes, peaches and strawberries.
  • City Limits, White Plains: Chill out with fruity red sangria made with blackberry brandy, peach schnapps, triple sec, red wine and fresh fruit. Served in a Belgian beer glass, each glass is topped with a splash of orange juice, cranberry juice and club soda.
  • City Perch Kitchen + Bar, Dobbs Ferry: Talk about a party in your mouth: The house-made sangria contains crisp white wine, ginger, passion fruit, apple brandy and fruit salsa. Available in a glass or punch bowl.
  • Durian, Larchmont: Bet you've never had a blue pea sangria. Here, it's loaded with lemon lime flavors, white wine and tons of fresh berries.
  • Don Coqui, White Plains: The fruit-filled classic -- in red and white -- exudes a sense of fun with a bracing balance of brandy, Schnapps, wine, soda and fruit juice.
  • MP Taverna, Irvington: Expect a twist on the traditional red and white thanks to Metaza, a brandy-like Greek spirit infused with rose petals, giving both a savory edge.
  • Moderne Barn, Armonk: A garnish of mint and a glass of crisp white wine peach sangria make for a perfect summer thirst-quencher. The drink is made with vodka, grated ginger, simple syrup, Chablis wine, and peaches.
  • North End Tavern, New Rochelle: Housemade red and white filled with fresh fruit are on the menu at this cozy sports bar where salads and burgers are popular favs. Premium wines are used as the sangria base keeping the taste -- and quality -- consistent.
  • NoMa Social, New Rochelle: Five tapas and a pitcher of sangria (for $60) make for the perfect after-work reprieve. Sangria comes in red and white varieties chock full of oranges and heaping portions of apples.
  • Pier Restaurant & Tiki Bar, Rye: Summer never ends at this festive tiki bar, with its pastel cocktails and waterfront perch. Open until October, you can choose from red and white sangria or try the Tiki Blue.
  • Polpettina, Larchmont: Watermelon sangria will quench your thirst and keep summer alive -- at least until you drain your glass. The motto at this eatery, after all, is "Carbs and Cocktails."
  • Sofrito, White Plains: Enjoy a taste of Puerto Rica  -- then get into the party mood. Here, white and red sangria pitchers seem to be on almost every table, stirring up an island frame of mind.
  • Sonora, Port Chester: Sangria lovers: say hello to your nirvana. Aside from the classic red or white, this Latin American charmer also serves up watermelon, blood orange, pineapple mint and white mango.
  • Villaggio’s, Hartsdale: Villaggio's sangria is made weekly in a five-gallon glass jar. The homemade recipe includes fresh mango puree, a splash of Prosecco, tons of peaches, apples and oranges and a few other "secret" ingredients.
  • Village Beer Garden, Port Chester: Red wine, sugar, brandy, gin and Triple Sec go into this fruity mixture, which is then topped with a splash of club soda and garnished with a spoonful of orange, apple and peach.
