White dieting and exercise ultimately prove to be not enough to lose unhealthy weight, many people turn to surgery for help. Gastric bypass is one of the most common forms of weigh loss surgery, but is not without its own risks.

In traditional gastric bypass surgery, patients are susceptible to rapidly changing glucose levels which can trigger a slew of adverse intestinal reactions. In Stomach Intestinal Pylorus-Sparing Surgery, or SIPS, the procedure is simplified and sensitive internal regions are avoided.

The result of the surgery is astounding; in a yearlong study, patients maintained an average weight loss of more than 40 percent, a remarkable improvement over traditional gastric surgeries.
