YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- There are new ways to get around FDR State Park.

Freinds of FDR State Park recently held a ceremony dedicating new bridges and boardwalks. The bridges and boardwalks are part of a larger project to connect two trail networks in Yorktown to form a 60-mile trail system, the largest in Westchester.

The bridge was a passion project for Linda Cooper, former Town Supervisor and Regional Director of New York State Park Taconic Region to use an abandoned railbed to connect the park to the business area.

The project includes a 70-foot boardwalk through wetlands, a bike bypass, a 108-foot boardwalk, and bridges over the inlet and outlet streams.

Friends of FDR State Park partnered with the state, park staff, boy scouts, NY-NJ Trail Conference volunteers and the Pleasantville Mountain Bike team on the project.
