The new gourmet market, with bakery goods, coffee, condiments and other items for sale in the front and room for dining and eating in on the side and in the back, opened for breakfast on June 10, lunch on July 10, and will open for dinner on September 8.

"We decided to take it slow and open one meal period at a time," said Gabrynowicz, the mastermind behind Restaurant North across the street.

What makes this market different from others, he said, is, quite simply, sourcing.

"We will be using the same produce, meats, and products that Restaurant North uses but without the need for a tablecloth. It will be simply prepared, convenient, mostly grab and go food utilizing our relationships with farmers we already utilize," he explained.

So far, the chef ambassador for the upcoming Greenwich Wine + Food Festival, (Sept. 24-26) said it's going great.

"We're really excited to get it going full speed," he said. "We feel the community is going to really embrace the concept as we have spent a lot of time analyzing what we have heard they are looking for."

Market North, with the slogan, "Changing the marketplace," is located at 387 Main St., (914) 273-3773, www.mktnorth.com/.
