If You Drive a Guzzler, Have a Gas Double-Dipping

As if skyrocketing gas prices aren't annoying enough, get set for another inconvenience at the pump. If it costs you more than $75 to fill up your tank and you're paying with Visa or Mastercard, you're going to have to double-dip. Your card, that is.

Both Visa and Mastercard still have limits of $75 per transaction at many gas stations, which means that if your petrol-hungry vehicle starts on empty and is heading toward full, the pump will shut off at $75 and you'll have to begin a new transaction before the fill-up is complete.

Are you the owner of one of these five particularly thirsty vehicles? If so, at least the spring weather makes waiting around for long, afternoon guzzles at the gas station more comfortable. Here are some particularly thirsty vehicles:

Chevy Avalanche: With a 31-gallon tank, this mountain will cost you about $124 to fill (at $4 per gallon for regular gas, a price that by the summer might look like a downright bargain).

You can do the math on the next four cars:

Ford Expedition: 28-gallon tank.

Lexus LS 460: 22 gallon tank, but it takes premium fuel only.

Volkswagen Toureg: 26.4 gallon tank

And last, but certainly not least, the Lamborghini Murcielago, which has a 26.8 gallon tank and only takes premium gas (of course). It's not quite as bad as the Avalanche, but there's a catch: the Murcielago gets only eight miles per gallon. Chances are if you bought this vehicle you're not too worried about gas prices. The sticker price is $354,000.

Have you ditched the gas-thirsty vehicle for a less thirsty one? Let me know.
