Heat Advisory In Effect For Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – With heat, humidity and expected 90-degree temperatures in the weather forecast through next week, a heat advisory is in effect for all of Westchester County.

The county is offering various places for people to stay and cool off.

The New Rochelle Public Library's main branch at 1 Library Plaza will be open Saturday until 2 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday. The Hugh Doyle Senior Center will also be open on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for seniors.

Some tips to keep in mind during the heat advisory:

  • Avoid strenuous activity.
  • Drink plenty of non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated beverages.
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
  • Also wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
  • Use sunscreen that rates SPF 30 or higher.
