Det. J.D. Smith and Master Police Officer Jeff Loock, both Drug Recognition Experts (DRE), were recognized for their contributions to the state's DRE program.

Drug Recognition Experts are law enforcement officers trained to identify people whose driving is impaired by drugs other than, or in addition to, alcohol. There are only 50 certified DRE’s in the state.

Master Police Officer Peter Schmidt and Officer Fred Reisch were recognized for their individual contributions in reducing drunk driving in Greenwich. Both officers are active in the department's Drunk and Drugged Driving program.

Greenwich Police Traffic Sgt. Patrick Smyth also attended. Smyth leads the Greenwich Police Departments enforcement effort in drunk and drugged driving.
