Boating In Winter? Only At Rye Y

RYE, N.Y. -- Boating in the middle of winter? Leave it to the Rye YMCA to figure out a way to set sail just before the arrival of Stella's blizzard.

Aiden Grant and his HMS Sinksalotnot was named "overall winner" of Friday's 4th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at the Rye YMCA.

Dozens of young sailors attempted to pilot boats made only of cardboard and duct tape on Friday, March 10 from one end of the Rye Y’s Brookside pool to the other. Some of them didn’t make it – but that was part of the fun, said Lisa Tidball.

The "Overall Winner" of the Rye Y's 4th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta was HMS Sinksalotnot.

The award for "Best Design" went to Michael and Vincent Mancusi: The Fire Truck!

The "Davie Jones’ Locker" award went to Elizabeth Carriere and her Orange Crush.

And heat finalists were:

-- Merflower: Caroline Kirby and Julianne Tonkle
