Amore Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen successfully moved to its new location at 1 Kent Place on Jan. 26. Amore has been an Armonk institution for almost 17 years, previously operating on Main Street.

Mark Mazzotta, who runs Amore with his brother Joe, had thought about expanding, since they bought the Kent Place building in 2006.

"We've seen a lot of restaurants come and go in this location," Mazzotta said. "We bought property to develop it."

When they decided to go ahead with the expansion in January 2013, Mazzotta did not take the task lightly. Along with his brother, he traveled up and down the East Coast, looking at various restaurant designs to see what would fit Amore.

"We wrote ideas on paper or even on cocktail napkins," Mazzotta said.

Mazzotta gave their architect their ideas and photos of Tuscany villas to get their idea across for a quaint cozy Italian restaurant.

"I am proud of what we have designed," Mazzotta said.

Amore is a wallet friendly restaurant with a warm atmosphere Mazzotta said. He is happy Armonk is becoming a dining destination with places like Fortina and Restaurant North while he maintains his client base.

"We have an unbelievable following," Mazzotta said. "Our customers are tremendously loyal. Everyone who has come to the new restaurant has been very positive."

Amore's new changes include a separate section for takeout orders and an outdoor dining area which will feature a vegetable garden and a bocci court.

The site used to be a well known pub in Armonk, so to pay tribute, Mazzotta added a burger to the menu.

"We have a butcher in Bronxville, who made this unique blend," Mazzotta said. "People are  going crazy over this burger.

Amore has also added an extensive vegetarian menu and offers gluten free items for the health conscious. And for those who prefer pizza, Amore offers authentic brick oven pizza.

"Our pizza is better than ever," Mazzotta said. "The brick oven really enhances the crust and the flavor."

Mazzotta said the new dining atmosphere in Amore has allowed him to get customers from all over Northern Westchester and Fairfield County.
