Armonk Chef Admits To Love Of Olive Oil As He Preps For Wine + Food Event

The Armonk, N.Y. resident is one of 10 local cooks chosen among the event's "Most Innovative Chefs."

DeAngelis said he gets inspiration for his creations from his younger team and from doing things in a collaborative fashion. "My grandparents and parents were great cooks," he said which is where his love for food stemmed from. "They were perfectionists when preparing meals and I adopted that philosophy too."

He also credits his influences to his huge cookbook collection and to looking at culinary trade magazines to see what the food trends are and how they can be weaved into Eastend's menu.

"I was taught in a French kitchen and am constantly learning from our Chef de Cuisines at our various restaurants," he added. (Eastend is part of Z Hospitality Group.)

As for what he'll be making when the Festival takes place? He said to expect something in the spirit of Eastend meaning a New England theme with a twist.

His favorite ingredient is olive oil so that may be a hint. "I put it on everything," he said. "Even ice cream."

The Greenwich Wine + Food Festival benefits The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a nationwide organization dedicated to providing healing to children and their families coping with cancer, sickle cell anemia and other serious illnesses, as well as The Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation.
