WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y.--Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJSC) will hold its annual gala on Tuesday, April 5 in Harrison.

WJCS, founded in 1943, is one of Westchester’s largest community service-based non-profits and will honor two long-time contributors, outgoing president Barry Kaplan and Nina Ross, who both live in Scarsdale.

“We’re celebrating over 80 years of service in Westchester County,” said WJCS Development Associate Diana Eppolito. “We help everybody from teens who drop out of school, to the elderly, to autistic individuals—a whole slew of services we’ve been providing to Westchester for many years.”

The gala will focus on the success of two of the organization’s flagship programs. Its Off The Street program, which provides Mt. Vernon youth with after-school activities, has grown from 65 students to double that amount. The organization has also expanded the WJCS Vocational Center, which offers career counseling for individuals with learning disabilities.

“We have the young kids doing Off The Street in a safe, learning, healthy environment,” Eppolito said. “And then we have kids who have gone through the program and are a little bit older and spend their time [volunteering]. It’s been such a great experience.”

The gala will be held from 6:30p.m.  to 9 p.m. at the Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, and tickets will cost $360. In past years, about 250 to 300 individuals have attended.
