VALHALLA, N.Y. – Westchester Community College is using the power of celebrity to raise money for student scholarships, according to a statement from the school.

The Westchester Community College Celebrity Salon Series is set to run from April through June. A number of events are scheduled, each taking place in the personal home of a different celebrity in the world of literature, media, politics sports and music.

The first event, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 10, will be held at the home Katonah home of Mark Russ Federman, owner of Russ and Daughters, an acclaimed Lower East Side eatery.

Guests will be treated to “brunch with a schmear” as they hear stories from Russ Federman, who will discuss how the family business evolved from “pushcart to posh.”

A second event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12 at the Harrison home of Michael Breed, the PGA’s 2012 National Teacher of the Year.

Breed, one of GOLF magazine’s top 100 instructors and the author of two instructional books, will detail behind-the-green backstories from the 2016 Masters and his from his 25 years in the sport. Breed also will provide feedback on the current state of the game and give out tips to play like the pros.
