The sales will be held under a tent, which will also include pony rides and a petting zoo. All will coincide with the BRLA’s “Memorial Day Country Pace Race,” which will be held on Monday.

“Last year we held the sales sometime in March in a location that was hard to find and we still made $2,500—including $500 just from the bake sale,” said Bedford resident Kathy Boyle, who started the bake sale tradition.

“We’re hoping the location and timing of this year’s sale brings even more people out,” she said. “There will be a lot of great items for people to grab for their memorial day plans.”

Items at the bake sale will include pies, cakes, brownies, scones, pound cakes, Irish soda bread, cookies and cupcakes from “local gourmet baker volunteers,” including Boyle herself.

“I love to cook—that’s why I started this thing!” she said.

The coinciding tag sale will include horse items that people might no longer need themselves, including horse blankets, saddles and other equipment needed to own a horse.

“There’s no easy way to get rid of those things other than finding another horse owner in need of them,” said Boyle.

All proceeds of the bake sale and 20 percent of the tag sale will go to the BRLA. For more information about the BRLA’s jam packed Memorial Day weekend plans, visit its website.
