Katonah Museum Of Art Selects Local Artists To Exhibit Portraits

KATONAH, N.Y. -- Selected local artists will display their portraits as part of the Katonah Museum of Art's "Eye to I... 3,000 Years of Portraits."

The opening is at the Katonah Public Library on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The smaller exhibition is called "Portraits, the Interpretation of Artists of the Katonah Museum of Art".

"Eye to I…" is currently on view at the museum. Borrowed primarily from private collections, the range of portraits is exceptional and few have been publicly exhibited. The earliest works include a carved Egyptian bust of Amenhotep III, dating from 1,500 BC, and a marble sculpture of a Roman priest from 125 AD.

The show runs through Feb. 16, 2014. Admission is $10 and $5 for students and seniors. Children under 12 are free.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 5 pm. It is located at 134 Jay St. (Route 22), Katonah.
