The report came in at 3:33 p.m. saying that the tanker was leaking gasoline and possible exposure was involved, initial reports said.

An employee at Mavis Discount Tire, on the East side of Route 37 said that business was without internet and cellphone, but had electric power, according to the Asbury Park Press. A mile away, the Police Department's lines were also down, app.com said.

A woman driving a disabled sedan that struck two deer in the eastern lanes of the route got out and stood on the shoulder just before the tanker struck her vehicle, the media outlet reported.
