Morris County Man, 19, Gets Probation For Breaking Into Newton Building, Stealing Transport Van

A 19-year-old Morris County man was sentenced to probation for breaking into a building in Newton and stealing a transport van, authorities said.

Michael Sinegra, of Whippany, was sentenced Thursday to two years of non-custodial probation by the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Prosecutor Francis A. Koch said.

Sinegra is also required to undergo a mental health evaluation and follow any and all recommendations, successfully complete an anger management course and 50 hours of community service, maintain full-time employment, pay restitution totaling $327.13, submit a DNA sample and pay fines totaling $655, Koch said.

Meanwhile, Sinegra’s driver’s license will be suspended for one year.

Sinegra pleaded guilty June 7 to third-degree burglary and theft after breaking into a building and stealing a transport van at Willow Glen in Sparta on Feb. 9, 2020, Koch said.

Sinegra was represented by Bruce Farrier, Esq., and the state was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Donald F. Cox, Jr.
