Surveillance video captured an image of what appears to be a stopped silver Chevy Malibu that suddenly accelerates and swerves in front of the Chester Building on West Century Road around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The sedan then hit the goslings and kept going, sparing the mother and father, Stella Tulli of Garfield told Daily Voice.

"A lot of us are pretty upset," Tulli said Wednesday, citing witnesses in office buildings on both sides of the street. "It was horrifying to witness. I cried for an hour."

Paramus police confirmed that they were investigating.

"Needless to say our entire office was in shock," witnesses said. "We are really sad that someone can be so cruel.

"If everyone can share this, maybe we have a chance of finding out who this person is and they can be held accountable," she said.

Anyone with information that can help identify the driver is asked to contact Detective Sgt. James Teehan at 201-262-3400 ext. 1375 or at www.paramuspolice.org.
