As Westchester’s real estate market leader, Houlihan Lawrence is committed to its community involvement and support of local events. Six representatives from the company’s Chappaqua office were in attendance, with past and current clients among the 225 participants who together raised $240,000.
This year’s guest speaker was Geralyn Lucas, author of Why I Wore Lipstick To My Mastectomy. A copy of her new book, Then Came Life was given to all attendees at the event, as well as a Lancôme lipstick. In her speech, Geralyn talked about her journey in overcoming breast cancer. Her stories were honest, funny, and emotional. The atmosphere was cheerful and motivated, and the silent auction was filled with items donated by local businesses in support of the cause.
“A Cure In Our Lifetime” recently celebrated its 18 year anniversary. The locally-grown organization was originally motivated by the loss of a close friend who passed away when she was just 38 years old, leaving behind a husband and two very young children. A group of six women raised the initial $15,000 selling notepads and offering pizza. Since 1998, they’ve gathered over $2,700,000 to fund innovative breast cancer research and promote breast health through education and outreach. They are the sole underwriters of a research project at Memorial Sloan Kettering targeting DNA in treatments, and in addition support the Dubin Breast Center at Mt. Sinai.
Houlihan Lawrence is extremely proud to support this incredible organization and very appreciative of their efforts and community involvement.
