Seventy years after the liberation in 1945, David Wisnia embarked on a journey with Avi to reconnect with his roots and bring his story to a new generation.
Wisnia survived Auschwitz by singing to entertain the SS and cell block leaders. He composed a song in Polish and one in Yiddish that were popular with the inmates. Both are on display at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.
Avi Wisnia is an award-winning composer, singer, performer and educator influenced by Brazilian bossa nova, acoustic American folk, 1950s West Coast jazz and contemporary pop.
The free event begins at 7 p.m.
