Gottfried has had a long and diverse career. Adults know him from his many appearances on "The Howard Stern Show," and his role in "Problem Child" and "Problem Child 2," while to kids he is Iago from "Alladin".

The comedian's rationale for performing in Peekskill is simple.

"Someone waved a check at me," Gottfried said. "I don't know much about it."

Gottfried was originally set to share a bill with comedian Richard Lewis, but he had to cancel due to undergoing wrist surgery. In an interview with Daily Voice, Lewis said Gottfried is the cheapest human being that ever lived.

"If you go out to dinner with him, he'll put his hand in his pocket and make that stupid face of his. He'll come into my dressing room and he'll steal my cheese. He's a horrible human being, but it's hard to find anyone funnier," Lewis said.

Gottfried joked that he'll call ahead and make sure there are certain items in Lewis' dressing room so he can steal them later.

"Just for saying that about me, I'm not buying his dinner," Gottfried said.

When he's not entertaining audiences on stage, Gottfried is host of "Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast" where he interviews people from old show business. Gottfried has encountered one issue with interviewing guests of a certain advanced age.

"We were going to do a show with comedian Jack Otter, but we had to cancel on him," Gottfried said. "He then cancelled out on us in a manner of speaking."

A former "Saturday Night Live" castmember, Gottfried had the misfortune of appearing on the show right after the original cast left. He was fired after one season.

"It was like if in the middle of Beatlemania, you said you John, Paul, George and Ringo are leaving and these four other schmucks are taking their place," Gottfried said. "People hated the show before it aired. And then we got on and we sucked."
