"Mixed Messages" is a story about what happens when different portions of society fail to understand each other.
The play centers around Lexi Voskoff, a brilliant math student who is in danger of losing his scholarship due to the problem he has communicating with others because of Asperger's syndrome.
Daniela, an online friend of Lexi's in East Los Angeles who also has Asperger's, has qualms about coming out to her traditional mother. Lexi's father Paul, a widowed musician, loses a gig at a Manhattan mega church for not being a Christian. As Lexi and Daniela imagine that they are actually from another planet, they soon find that the planet is real, and needs their help to solve a pressing conflict. Directed by Pia Haas. With:Bruce Apar, Rodd Berro, Donna Bonelli, Joan Cavallo, Caitlin Gallagher, Anthony Malchar, Olivia Rerek and Jeff Schlotman Spivack grew up listening to show tunes and working with the 52nd Street Project on more than one occasion. In New York City, he has acted in plays including "Happy Hour," "Spring's Awakening," "Peter Pan in the Big Apple" and "The True Colors of Weedle." He currently writes and performs sketch comedy with Monkeys Typing Shakespeare. "Mixed Messages" is his first full-length play. The goal is to raise awareness and create job demand in Fortune 1000 companies for people with Asperger's syndrome.
