The celebration, which included a ribbon cutting, follows the addition of a series of significant changes for the store, which is located at 655 North Bedford Road.

Bob Duncan, an Armonk resident and owner of Wallauer's, discussed the changes. Structural alterations include the movement and enlarging of the design center - space formerly occupied by a tenant is now used - along with the removal of a partition.

The store now has three additional jobs, according to George Petre, who is financial controller for Wallauer's, with the total at 11.

Discussing why the Bedford Hills store was renovated, Duncan noted that contractors had to go elsewhere for “hardware-type products" and noted the success of a hardware division at the company's North White Plains store.

The store renovation also includes the addition of Ace Hardware products. Duncan, discussing the addition of Ace at another store, said it was “very successful change” and added that there are several reasons for it. For example, it appears that the hardware business has more activity during the winter, while the paint business is busier during the summer.

Bedford Supervisor Chris Burdick, who was present for the celebration, spoke favorably about the store in an interview, congratulating Duncan and the staff for a “job extremely well done.”
