The dismissal comes after the disclosure of more than $13 million in settlements involving sexual harassment allegations against him, prompting more than 50 advertisers to pull spots from "The O'Reilly Factor."

"After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O'Reilly have agreed that Bill O'Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel," Fox News parent company 21st Century Fox said in a terse statement.

It's the second high-profile parting of the ways involving sexual harassment claims for Fox News, which reached a settlement last year to remove its founder, Roger Ailes of Garrison, from his post.

The 67-year-old O’Reilly, who is vacationing in Italy, said he enjoyed his 20 years with Fox News but said in a statement it was “tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims.”

“But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today,” he said. “I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. I wish only the best for Fox News Channel.”

O'Reilly is a 1971 Marist College graduate. In 2015, he provided the college with a $1 million gift to provide scholarships for needy students. O'Reilly now lives in Manhasset on Long Island.
