Questions Arise As Media Industry Races For Internet-TV Future

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- New Internet-based television providers that are set to go live will provide viewers an array of new options while forcing traditional cable carriers to find new ways to keep their customer base, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Companies like Apple, Inc., Dish Network and Sony are set to provide a service that would allow viewers to watch live television via the Internet without having to pay full cost for a cable package, The Wall Street Journal reported. 

The impending Internet television craze isn't without its pitfalls, however.

Most packages, while cheaper will come with much more limited options. Dish's $20 a month streaming package, for example, will offer channels like ESPN and TNT, but not basic offerings like CBS, NBC and Fox. The price, of course, won't include broadband Internet service to stream the channels, The Wall Street Journal said.
