Manhattan's Paul Villinski, Brooklyn's Jackie Battenfield and Eve Stockton of Alexandria, Va. will have their works displayed, in an effort to reflect the Hospital’s desire to fill the space with natural elements to offset the stresses that can go along with a hospital visit.
Each piece of art was carefully selected to enhance the calming, positive nature of the lobby and connect the viewer with the outdoors. The art features butterflies, a tree with blossoms, and the ocean.
The butterfly-themed installation “Untitled” is also environmentally friendly, making use of 'upcycled' materials in which artist Paul Villinski used crushed, used aluminum cans and transformed them into butterflies using paint, wire, and brass.
White Plains Hospital’s new lobby and entranceway will officially open to the public on Sep. 22nd following a private opening ceremony on the 21st. The grand opening of the lobby is the first in a series of new and renovated Hospital facilities to be unveiled throughout 2015 - 2016, including a new six-story patient tower, an expanded cancer center, additional cardiac catheterization laboratory, and renovated labor and delivery suites.
