"Cosi has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with our landlord and the community in Mt. Kisco," Cosi Chief Financial Officer Miguel Rossy-Donovan said in a provided statement. "Our lease is expiring at the end of January, and it is with mixed emotions that we exit this location after 15 years."

The closure comes as Cosi is closing its underperforming locations, something that Rossy-Donovan noted in his statement.

"We are focusing on our most profitable markets at this time," he said. "We expect to offer our employees an opportunity to transfer to a nearby location, and we thank all of our loyal guests for their many years of support. Cosi invites everyone to visit our other locations and looks forward to returning to Mt. Kisco and surrounding communities in the future."

Cosi has been in financial trouble as of late. Its stock price has been trading under $1 a share and the company has been given a delisting warning from Nasdaq, where its shares trade. The company reported a loss of roughly $3.9 million for the third quarter of 2015, the most recent period available.

The loss of Cosi will leave Mount Kisco with a prominent downtown vacancy. The building is located at 15 S. Moger Ave. and once housed bookstore Fox & Sutherland, a shop that closed two decades ago but still evokes nostalgia locally.

Remaining tenants in the 2-story building include mattress chain Sleepy's, which is also on the first floor, and Richard Scott Salon & Day Spa, which occupies the upper floor.
