ARMONK, N.Y. --  An Armonk business is making sure  high schoolers stay on the right track.

LogicPrep, at 430 Bedford Road, helps students prepare for the SAT, ACT and SAT subject tests. LogicPrep also offers school support, and test prep for Regents and AP exams.

LogicPrep was founded in 2007 and has been based in Armonk for the last two years, down the road from Byram Hills High School.

"It's a great location, especially for the kids," Jesse Kolber, who runs LogicPrep, said. "LogicPrep puts the kids in an environment conducive to learning."

The Mind Gym has become one of LogicPrep's hallmarks, offering students a quiet place to do their homework and study.

"Homework should not be done at home," said Kolber. "Facebook, texting and siblings can make it impossible to focus."

LogicPrep boasts an average improvement of 232 points on the SAT and 6.1 points on the ACT, which becomes more important in the hyper competitive word of college acceptance.

"We want to tap into these kids and get them all into tune," Kolber said

Many of LogicPrep's tutors have art backgrounds which allow them to maintain a student's interest while helping them understand their coursework.

"It allows us to yield positive outcomes," Kolber said. "The quality of our tutors really sets us apart. They can really tap into kids on an emotional level."

Kolber said there is no secret formula or method to beating the SATs.

"There is no way around hard work," Kolber said. "You have to be ready and be skilled in math and grammar. You have to study."

Some students come to LogicPrep well versed in material and just need a little extra coaching while other students come in needing more help in achieving academic goals.

"Some kids just need to learn how to be better organized," Kolber said.

Kolber estimates LogicPrep gets about 150 students, mostly from Northern Westchester. Kolber said aside from Byram Hills, they work with students from Fox Lane, Horace Greeley, Pleasantville and Hackley.

"It's a pretty interesting spread," Kolber said. "Some kids just leave school and use our room to study. We provide the structure to make them better organized."
